Kate Kenfield is a speaker, writer, and empathy educator.

Kate’s internationally sought after Tea & Empathy feelings cards have been used across the world to train doctors, students, educators, and many others to better understand, engage with, and talk about feelings in a practical and non-confrontational way; changing professional and personal interactions.

She was inspired to create the cards after developing a chronic illness. She observed how difficult it was for many people around her to talk about challenging feelings and wanted to create an easier way for them to connect. Since creating the cards, Kate’s taught Tea & Empathy workshops in four countries and successfully crowdfunded an improved version of the deck.

Kate holds a Masters in Public Health from the University of Melbourne, and a Bachelors in Anthropology from the University of California at Berkeley. She’s a frequent guest lecturer at the University of Melbourne and has provided hundreds of invited presentations in corporate settings and institutions such as UCLA, New York University, Indiana University, and Australian National University.

She’s been interviewed on ABC radio, 3RRR, The Huffington Post, JOY FM, NPR, and others. She regularly consults for organisations in the education, healthcare, and non-profit sectors.

Originally from California, she’s based in Melbourne, Australia and frequently travels internationally to speak. You can find out more about Kate on her website, connect with her on Twitter (@katekenfield), or Instagram (@katekenfield).
